AI for Business – SBDC Workshop

You want AI to help you move projects forward, support clients, and get to clear next steps.

This workshop shows SBDC staff how to do that in real work, with real questions.
This session focuses on action plans, practical prompts, and simple tools you can use the same day with the businesses you support.

Help Your Clients Turn AI Into Action

Join this live SBDC workshop on February 10, 2026 12pm to 1:30pm MST and practice using AI to create clear, practical plans for the businesses you support.

What You Will Learn

The AI landscape is moving quickly. Advisors who understand how to guide AI will be able to turn ideas into plans with confidence.

Action-Focused Prompts
Learn a straightforward way to ask AI for clear steps, timelines, and checklists. The focus is on prompts that lead to decisions and action, so you end up with clear next steps instead of more information to organize.

Using AI To Shape the Prompt
See how to let the AI help you refine the question itself. You will practice turning a rough idea or client situation into a strong, structured prompt that produces useful answers.

Notebook-Style Tools for Organized Thinking
Explore “notebook” tools such as Google NotebookLM that bring notes, links, and background into one organized place. Learn how these tools can highlight themes, next steps, and follow-up questions for client meetings.

Client-Ready Action Plans
Work through examples that start with a real business question and end with a simple plan your client can follow. The goal is a repeatable flow you can use again and again.

Who It Is For

This workshop is designed for:

  • SBDC advisors and staff across Montana
  • Team members who support small business education and outreach
  • Anyone in the SBDC network who works directly with business owners and wants AI to support that work

Some experience “playing” with AI is helpful, but deep technical knowledge is not required. The focus is on communication and workflow.

You will leave with:
  • A simple approach to prompting you can reuse
  • At least one action plan drafted from your own example
  • Ideas for how to share these tools with the businesses you support

Tools Needed
Please have access to at least one AI tool during the workshop. Roxane will demonstrate with ChatGPT. The free version is enough to participate, although it has some limits. If you use a paid plan or another platform such as Claude, Gemini, Copilot, or NotebookLM, you are welcome to work with that instead. The prompt patterns taught in class will apply across tools.

Privacy and Recording
This session will not be recorded. You will work with AI tools on your own device and in your own account, so any client information you choose to reference will stay on your side. This workshop is not slide-based, so there will not be a slide deck; the focus is on live practice and workflows you can repeat after class.
